Location

The general feeling is that of “once a farmhouse, always a farmhouse”. Located 20 minutes from the sea and only 20 minutes from the vibrant city of Catania and is overlooked by the majestic Mount Etna. It obviously includes a space for a vegetable garden too!

Layout

Zash is a fine farmhouse dating back to the turn of the century and has been the owners’ family holiday home for several generations. In the sixties, citrus fruit crops replaced its grapevines and recently, the enterprising Paola Maugeri, has transformed it into an award-winning boutique hotel by opening its doors to visitors.

A quiet elegance prevails where the new additions are boldly combined with old traditions.

The bedrooms’ white walls, oak wood floors and the odd touch of lava stone combined with glass and contemporary details make a relaxing feast for the eye and for the spirit. Zash’s seventeen rooms are distributed between the main house, the winery and the garden. The grand suite in the main house has a living room as well as a double bedroom. The house faces Mount Etna which, by an imaginative use of mirrors, can be seen from many angles.

• The restaurant takes place inside the old grind mill and winery that lead to an intimate dining area and a well-stocked bar along with a wine cellar. The cuisine is aligned with the design.
